1. What’s the advantage of a private club membership?

There are many reasons why a private club membership is preferable to golfing on public courses.  How about being able to complete 18 holes in 4 hours or less?  And, at SPCC, you have the added benefit of 27 holes and so there is rarely a wait to tee off.  The overall quality and challenge of the golf course is also a plus, along with all of the other amenities that a country club membership offers such as a pool, tennis, social activities and great dining.  For boating enthusiasts, we are the only country club in the area with a marina.  Come by boat for the day, the night or stay for the whole season! Of course, the members themselves and the lasting friendships gained make SPCC a special place that’s worth the price of membership.

2. What is unique about Sparrows Point Country Club?

Unlike many other private clubs, SPCC is member-owned and run.  Policy and rules are defined by members and major changes cannot be made without member approval.  We are also on the water so we are the only country club in the area that offers a 62-slip marina and scenic waterfront Olympic-sized pool.  In addition, we are one of only a few clubs that offers 27 Championship golf holes and we are conveniently located to many residential and business communities, including Baltimore City, Towson, White Marsh and other areas in southeast Baltimore County.

3. What are the different memberships offered?

Currently, we offer golf privileges for individuals, couples, junior executives (under age 34), juniors and seniors.  We also have seasonal and non-resident memberships for those who live or work away from the area.  There is a social membership available for those who do not regularly golf and are looking for a friendly place to socialize, make new friends and enjoy meals as well as many entertaining social events.  And for anyone who wants to try us out without a commitment, we offer 3 month and 30 day trials for golf and social memberships.

4. Do I have to be a golfer to join?

Of course not!  We welcome social members and offer year-long activities such as wine tastings, crab feasts, monthly brunches, special holiday events, and book and bridge clubs. Bring your boat and enjoy our pier community or take a few swings on our Har-Tru tennis courts!  Or get on board one of our bus trips to Atlantic City or the theater! We have something for everyone.

5. How do I become a member?

It couldn’t be easier!  You do not need a sponsor for a full time membership and everyone is welcome.  Simply contact our General Manager, Paul Glomp and he will provide you with the forms for application.

6. Can I try out the course or other facility before I join?

We will be happy to schedule a tour, a day at the pool or a complimentary round of golf for anyone who has never played the course.  Contact our General Manager for more information.

7. Can I bring guests to SPCC?

Guests are not only welcomed, but encouraged!

8. Do you have a dress code?

Yes.  Generally, the attire is casual and dress denim is allowed everywhere in the clubhouse and on all non-golf related grounds.  Men should wear collared shirts. Swimsuits and tee shirts are only allowed on pool, pier or picnic grounds.  Please refer to the detailed description on the guest information page or call the front desk with questions.

9. Is there a cell phone policy?

Cell phones may be used with discretion and consideration of other members and guests.

10. Are reciprocal playing privileges available?

Yes.  From time to time, our 18 hole course will be unavailable due to aeration, an outing or tournament event, so our golf shop staff will make every effort to attain a tee time for you at one of the other private clubs in the area for a nominal reciprocal fee.

11. What does SPCC offer for families?

There are many opportunities at SPCC for family fun - in fact, we even have Family Fun Days at the pool!  We have a kids’ Sports Camp that gives them the opportunity to play tennis, golf and swim for the day. We also have a junior golf program that includes weekly clinics.  There are playground areas for younger children and during the year we have movie nights, camp outs and holiday parties.
